Anambra Officials Disagree on Tinubu's Photos for Bridge

The Anambra State government and the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have expressed opposing views regarding the directive from Senator Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, to decorate the First Niger Bridge with photographs of President Bola Tinubu. Umahi issued this directive on Wednesday during an inspection of ongoing maintenance work on the bridge, stating it was a gesture of appreciation for the administration's efforts in rehabilitating the vandalized structure.

Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, the APGA chairman in Anambra State, supported the directive, arguing that displaying the President's photograph is a common practice in federal establishments. Conversely, Dr Law Mefor, the State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, criticized the directive, suggesting that the Federal Government should focus on more pressing issues.

Additionally, Dr Ndubuisi Nwobu of the African Democratic Congress and Hon. Ikem Uzoezie of the Nigeria Democratic Congress condemned the directive, labeling it as excessive sycophancy, asserting that the maintenance work is a governmental responsibility and not a personal favor from the President.
