Anambra First Lady Calls for Blood Donations from Nigerians

The First Lady of Anambra State has called on Nigerians to donate blood, highlighting the critical role of voluntary blood donations in saving lives, particularly during emergencies such as childbirth complications and severe injuries. She described blood donors as unsung heroes whose contributions provide hope to many families and strengthen the capacity of health institutions to respond to medical needs.

The call coincides with the 2026 World Blood Donor Day, which emphasizes the importance of sharing responsibility and sustaining public participation in blood donation campaigns. Dr.

Soludo, presumably referring to the Governor, noted that maintaining a safe and adequate blood supply relies heavily on healthy individuals willing to donate voluntarily. The First Lady urged Nigerians not to let economic difficulties deter them from helping others, stressing that donating blood incurs no financial cost and can give someone a second chance at life.

She also encouraged young people, religious bodies, community organizations, and the private sector to champion awareness campaigns to promote regular blood donation.
