Andoni Iraola to Depart Bournemouth After Contract Talks Fail

Andoni Iraola, the current coach of AFC Bournemouth, will depart the club at the end of the season following the breakdown of contract negotiations. Iraola, 43, joined Bournemouth in 2023, succeeding Gari O'Neil, and has since worked to reshape the club's fortunes, leading them to finish 12th and 9th in his first two full seasons.

Currently, Bournemouth sits 11th in the league, three points behind Chelsea with six matches remaining. Despite Bournemouth's determination to retain Iraola, the failure to agree on a new contract means he will leave the club as a free agent this summer.

Although Iraola has not confirmed his next move, he is strongly linked with a return to Athletic Bilbao, where he spent 12 years as a player and made 400 appearances. The club is also in search of a new manager following Ernesto Valverde's announcement in March that he will step down at the end of the campaign.
