Archbishop Ndukuba Urges Action Against Youth Drug Abuse

His Grace, the Most Revd Henry Ndukuba, the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, expressed alarm over the escalating drug abuse and addiction among Nigerian youths, describing it as an endemic issue. He made these remarks during his presidential charge at the 15th General Synod of the Church of Nigeria, held at Our Saviour’s Anglican Church, Ikenne-Remo.

Ndukuba emphasized the need for the Church to intensify its involvement in combating drug trafficking and addiction, highlighting the serious implications for the future of young Nigerians and community stability. He identified corruption and drug trafficking as significant threats to Nigerian society, noting the country's shift from being a transit route for illicit drugs to a major participant in the drug trade.

Ndukuba called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, churches, schools, families, and civil society to prevent drug abuse and rehabilitate victims. He also addressed insecurity, commending government efforts while urging improved strategies to protect vulnerable communities.
