Court Orders DSS Custody for Angwa-Rukuba Killings Suspects

On Friday, a Plateau State High Court ordered four suspects, identified as Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar, Musa Abubakar, and another Auwalu Abubakar, to remain in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) as they face charges related to the Angwa-Rukuba killings that resulted in the deaths of 30 people. The court agreed to the prosecution's request for a speedy trial and adjourned the case to May 26, 2026, for a report on case management, with further hearings scheduled for July 1-2, 2026.

The suspects are charged with terrorism and criminal conspiracy under the Plateau State Penal Code Law of 2017. The judge emphasized the need for the suspects to remain in custody due to the circumstances of the case, while also allowing them access to legal counsel during their detention pending the conclusion of investigations.
