Court Allows Defense Witnesses in Angwa Rukuba Case

On Tuesday, the Plateau State High Court, presided over by Justice Gedaliah Fwomyon, granted four suspects arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) the opportunity to call five defense witnesses in the ongoing trial related to the Angwa Rukuba killings. The attack, which occurred in Angwa Rukuba, Jos North LGA, resulted in the deaths of 30 individuals.

The suspects, identified as Isa Umar, Ibrahim Auwalu, Musa Auwalu, and Ibrahim, face charges including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and illegal dealing in arms and ammunition. The court has scheduled the next hearings for July 1 and 2, 2026, and ruled that the suspects will remain in DSS custody until the next adjournment.

Additionally, President Bola Tinubu recently approved a 2 billion naira relief package for the victims of the Angwa Rukuba attack, promising justice for the perpetrators.
