Court Issues Second Arrest Warrant for Saleh Mamman

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of Saleh Mamman, a convicted former Minister, after he failed to appear in court for his ongoing corruption trial. Judge Maryann Anenih postponed proceedings until May 14, 2025, following a request from Rotimi Oyedepo, the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mamman was previously convicted on May 7, 2023, for fraud amounting to N33.8 billion related to a corrupt trial. He served as Minister of Power under President Muhammadu Buhari from August 2019 to September 2021.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Mamman alongside seven others with nine counts of conspiracy and intent to defraud. The court had previously issued a warrant for his arrest, which remains unexecuted.

Mamman's defense team cited ill health as the reason for his absence, but the judge ordered his arrest to ensure his presence in court for sentencing.
