Ex-Power Minister Saleh Mamman Sentenced to 75 Years

Saleh Mamman, the former Minister of Power, has been sentenced to 75 years in prison by the Federal High Court in Abuja for corruption and money laundering. Justice James Omotosho delivered the judgment, convicting Mamman on 12 counts filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under case number FHC/ABJ/CR/273/2024.

The court imposed a seven-year sentence for ten counts and three years for two counts, with the sentences to run consecutively, totaling 75 years without an option of fine, except for one count which carries a ₦10 million fine. The court also ordered the forfeiture of foreign currency and four high-value properties in Abuja linked to Mamman.

He was found guilty of misappropriating public funds, including a $655,700 cash payment for land acquisition in Abuja, without proper financial institution involvement. Mamman, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, was not present in court during sentencing, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.
