New Modular Refinery Construction Begins in Delta State with Government Support

The Nigerian government, represented by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Heineken Lokpobiri, has shown support for the construction of a 30,000 barrels per day modular refinery in Koko, Delta State. The project, led by Nigerian company Ebenco Global Link Limited, is seen as a strategic move to promote legitimate refining, support local investment, and discourage illegal activities in the oil value chain.

The refinery is expected to deepen local content, reduce illegal bunkering, and enhance operational flexibility. The initiative aligns with the government's efforts to unlock private capital, fast-track infrastructure development, and strengthen the nation's resilience in the oil and gas sector.

Omonigho Otanocha, an associate professor at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE), commended the refinery project.
