Argentine newspaper La Nacion reported that Argentines in Brazil, Spain, and Germany experienced taunts and insults. Ignacio H., an Argentine businessman, described being provoked by a colleague in Brazil.

The incident of a man in an Argentina jersey being attacked in Madrid circulated widely, although Spain’s National Police stated no official complaint had been filed. Argentina reached the final after defeating England in the semifinals, but criticism arose regarding perceived favoritism from FIFA officials.

The controversy intensified when Argentine players displayed a banner claiming "Las Malvinas Son Argentinas," leading to condemnation from UK politicians. FIFA is currently investigating the matter.
