Supreme Court to Rule on PDP, LP, ADC Leadership Crisis

The Supreme Court of Nigeria is expected to announce a crucial ruling today concerning the leadership disputes within the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC). This judgment follows an accelerated hearing process initiated last week, focusing on the legitimacy of party leadership and compliance with constitutional processes.

The court's decision is pivotal as it will influence the parties' ability to organize primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) setting the presidential election for January 16, 2027, and state assembly polls for February 6, 2027. Political parties are expected to conduct their primaries between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
