Supreme Court to Rule on ADC, PDP Leadership Today

The Supreme Court of Nigeria is scheduled to deliver a judgment today, April 30, 2026, regarding leadership disputes within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP). The case, listed under appeal numbers SC CV 166 2026 for the PDP and SC CV 180 2026 for the ADC, is expected to shape the future of these opposition parties as they prepare for the 2027 general elections.

A five-member panel led by Justice Moham Garba has reserved judgment following arguments presented in earlier hearings. The ADC's leadership crisis involves a faction led by David Mark and another by Nafiu Gomb.

The Federal High Court previously ruled in favor of Mark, recognizing his leadership, which the ADC legal team is appealing. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set a deadline of May 10 for political parties to submit their membership registrations, with presidential elections scheduled for January 16, 2027, and governorship elections for February 6, 2027.
