Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has refuted claims of defecting to the APC, expressing unwavering loyalty to the PDP and criticizing Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for allegedly undermining the party in the South West. Fayose accused Makinde of sidelining party members and weakening PDP structures, particularly in Osun State.

Despite internal challenges within the PDP, Fayose emphasized his commitment to the party and declared his allegiance to former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
