APC A Cult, Not Political Party, Says Olawepo-Hashim

Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it a cult rather than a political party.

He accused the APC of lacking ideology, internal democracy, and a coherent vision for Nigeria's future. Speaking on AIT Democracy Today, he stated that the APC functions like an authoritarian movement, with only a few individuals giving instructions that everyone else must obey.

Olawepo-Hashim highlighted the economic decline and insecurity that have expanded under the APC's rule, contrasting it with the PDP's consultative and democratic culture. He urged Nigerians to demand a higher standard of political organization and emphasized the importance of genuine democratic processes in securing better leadership for the country.

Olawepo-Hashim concluded by stating that a political party should be a machine that serves as an institution capable of producing leadership for national development.
