ADC Accuses APC of Coercing Civil Servants to Join Party, Alleges Violation of Rights

The African Democrat Congress (ADC) has raised alarm over the alleged forceful registration of civil servants by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in several states in Nigeria. The ADC accuses the APC of using economic pressure to compel public servants to join the party, warning that such actions violate constitutional rights and undermine the neutrality of the civil service.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC's National Public Secretary, described the reported coercion as a serious threat to the integrity of Nigeria's civil service. The ADC emphasizes that freedom of association, guaranteed by the 1999 constitution, should not be overridden by political parties in government.

The party has called for investigations into the allegations and warned that such actions could amount to an abuse of power and a violation of data privacy laws.
