APC Governors Commit to Tinubu's 2027 Re-election Efforts

On Thursday, October 19, 2023, Hope Uzodinma, the Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, announced that All Progressives Congress (APC) governors would take responsibility for securing President Bola Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 general election. This declaration followed a meeting between Tinubu and the APC governors after the 160th National Economic Council meeting in Abuja.

Uzodinma emphasized that the success of the election would depend on the governors' efforts at the subnational level, stating that they would identify necessary strategies for effective campaigning in their states. Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule echoed this sentiment, asserting that elections are state-centric and that governors would lead the campaign efforts.

The meeting also addressed governance issues, focusing on reducing the cost of living for Nigerians, food security, and the impact of reforms. Uzodinma expressed satisfaction with the discussions, indicating a collective commitment among the governors to support Tinubu's campaign.
