APC Leadership Confirms No Rezoning of Party Positions

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially ruled out the rezoning of party positions, maintaining the current leadership structure. This decision was reached during a meeting on Monday, concluding at 1:45 AM in Lagos, where Governor Hope Uzodinma briefed journalists.

Despite this, there are complaints from aspirants contesting various positions within the party, particularly regarding the nomination process for the upcoming national convention scheduled for March 27-28 in Abuja. The party has already inaugurated several committees to ensure the success of this exercise, including those responsible for screening candidates.

However, some party stalwarts, especially those intending to contest, have criticized the current zoning arrangements, arguing that they unfairly disqualify certain candidates. Reports suggest that several current National Working Committee (NWC) members are pushing for re-election and seeking to join committees, while aspirants like Paul Yovw have expressed frustration over the nomination process, which they describe as systematically preventing open and transparent contests.
