APC Strengthens Grip on Nigerian Politics with Key Governor Defections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is strengthening its influence in Nigerian politics with Kano Governor Abba Yusuf defecting to the party, following internal tensions within the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) led by Rabiu Kwankwaso. Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang is also expected to join APC.

The defections are attributed to power imbalances and uncertainties within NNPP, prompting Yusuf to seek a clearer path to a second term. APC is strategically absorbing governors to expand its reach and influence.

Meanwhile, reports of an impeachment plot against River State Governor Siminalayi Fubara were dismissed by senior APC leaders.
