APC Faces Criticism as Registered Party Membership Plummets from 41M to 10M

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is under scrutiny as its total registered party membership decreased from 41 million to 10 million. Sumner Sambo, a political analyst, raised concerns about the inconsistency in the figures released by the party.

Despite claiming 41 million members in March 2022, APC's presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, received only 8.7 million votes, casting doubt on the accuracy of the party's records. The drop in membership numbers has led to questions about the credibility of APC's registration figures, especially in the run-up to the 2023 elections.

While APC defended the decrease, citing a target of 20 million registered members, critics question the transparency and implementation of the new digital registration exercise.
