APC Sweeps All Chairmanship Seats in Yobe Elections

In the local government elections held on September 26, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a significant victory by winning all 17 chairmanship seats in Yobe State. The results were announced by the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC) on September 27 at its headquarters in Damaturu.

YSIEC Chairman Ibrahim Mohammed Yabani reported that the election was "hitch-free," with participation from 10 parties. Notable results included Baba Goni Bade winning Fune LGA with 74,411 votes, Abdulmumini Usaini with 61,326 votes in Fika LGA, and Alhaji Salisu Muktari winning Potiskum with 58,705 votes.

Other winners included Bukar Adamu in Damaturu LGA with 18,465 votes and Alhaji Mohammed Musa in Geidam with 35,832 votes. Despite the APC's dominance at the chairmanship level, the African Peoples Party (APP) and Action Democratic Party (ADP) secured wins at the ward level.

Yabani confirmed that results for councillorship positions were declared at the ward level, while chairmanship results were announced at the LGA collation centres.
