APCI Launches National Anti-Bullying Week for Schools

The African Principals Conference Initiative (APCI) has called on schools and education stakeholders to prioritize student safety and well-being as they prepare for the 2026/2027 academic session. This announcement coincides with the launch of nationwide registration for the national anti-bullying week and school debates, scheduled for November 9 to 13.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy under APCI’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Ministry of Education aimed at enhancing safeguarding measures in schools. Joseph Ayodele, the Director-General of APCI, stated that the quality of education should be assessed not only by examination results but also by the safety and emotional well-being of students.

He emphasized the importance of evidence-based policies and collaboration among government, educators, parents, and communities. APCI also introduced a three-pronged national school safety framework, which includes the anti-bullying week, a national school climate baseline assessment in March 2027, and a school leadership evaluation.

Ayodele acknowledged UBEC's support for the national anti-bullying policy and its involvement in related workshops.
