Nigeria Intensifies Anti-Bullying Campaign in Schools

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating bullying in schools through the intensified implementation of the National Policy on Anti-Bullying. This initiative was emphasized during a One-Day Sensitisation Workshop for Students and Teachers organized by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, underscored the importance of creating a secure environment for teaching and learning.

Dr. Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, represented by Hon.

Olajuwon Rasaq Akinyemi, highlighted the detrimental effects of bullying on students' academic performance and emotional well-being. She encouraged students to report incidents of bullying without fear, promoting the campaign message, “If you see something, say something.” The workshop also featured Mr.

Adeniji Ibrahim, who acknowledged the growing concern of bullying in schools and expressed confidence in the positive outcomes of the Ministry's interventions.
