Keyamo Calls APC Bye-Election Wins Significant for 2027

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, described the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s victories in four of the five bye-elections held across Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, and Delta states as significant ahead of the 2027 general elections. Keyamo made this statement via social media on Sunday, following the bye-elections conducted on Saturday.

The APC secured wins in Kano State, where Hussaini Yusuf Datti won the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency bye-election with 22,890 votes; in Bauchi State, where Yakubu Ali won the Disina State Constituency election with 5,846 votes against the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) which garnered 5,225 votes; in Gombe State, where Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency with 41,121 votes; and in Delta State, where Okolosi Ator won the Udu State Constituency seat with 8,724 votes. The APM won the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi with 8,515 votes.

Keyamo emphasized the importance of the APC's regional victories for the party's strategy in the upcoming elections, referencing the constitutional requirement for presidential candidates to secure at least 25% of the votes in two-thirds of the states and the Federal Capital Territory.
