Ipetumodu Stakeholders Demand Action on Apetu Stool Crisis

Stakeholders from Ipetumodu have issued a seven-day ultimatum to Osun State Governor Adeleke to address the ongoing crisis regarding the vacant Apetu stool. This call comes amid growing concerns over the prolonged absence of the traditional ruler, Joseph Oloyed, who is currently serving a prison sentence for fraud, which began on August 26, 2025.

The community leaders, represented by Prince Dele Oyebad, warned that the continued delay in addressing the issue could exacerbate tensions within the community and impact governance at the grassroots level. They urged the state government to formally declare the Apetu stool vacant and initiate the selection process for a new monarch.

Oyebad emphasized the need for necessary legal documents, including a certified true copy of the court judgment, to be submitted to the government. The absence of the monarch has already led to neighboring communities taking advantage of the leadership vacuum, prompting calls for immediate government intervention to restore order and support the appointment of a new chief.
