Pressure Mounts on Adeleke Over Apetu Stool Vacancy

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is under increasing pressure to take decisive action regarding the vacancy of the Apetu stool in Ipetumodu. This urgency arises from the prolonged absence of traditional leadership following the imprisonment of the current monarch, Joseph Oloyed, who is serving a 56-month sentence in the United States for fraud related to COVID-19 relief funds.

Community stakeholders, including representatives from the ruling houses, have expressed their concerns, stating that the lack of a recognized monarch is creating uncertainty and weakening traditional authority in the town. They have urged the state government to formally declare the stool vacant and initiate the selection process for a new traditional ruler within seven days.

The absence of leadership has reportedly affected land disputes and cultural rites, prompting calls for urgent intervention from the government to restore order and enable the kingmakers to fulfill their responsibilities without further delay.
