APM Condemns Presidency's Attacks on Cardinal Onaiyekan

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) issued a statement condemning the Presidency's attacks on Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, and other Catholic bishops for their remarks on Nigeria's deteriorating economic and security situation. The statement, released in Abuja on Thursday by National Publicity Secretary Mr.

Abubakar Yusuf, criticized the Federal Government for failing to address the legitimate concerns raised by religious leaders. The APM described the Presidency's reaction as intolerant and indicative of an unwillingness to accept constructive criticism.

It emphasized that personal attacks against respected figures like Cardinal Onaiyekan reflect the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration's disdain for public opinion. The party argued that religious leaders, who engage closely with citizens, deserve respect and their observations should be treated as valuable feedback.

The APM expressed concern over the government's focus on attacking religious leaders instead of addressing the pressing issues of insecurity and economic hardship affecting Nigerians.
