APM Urges Tinubu to Withdraw Amid Onaiyekan Controversy

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has called on President Bola Tinubu to withdraw from the presidential race if he lacks solutions to Nigeria's escalating economic and security challenges. This statement follows the party's condemnation of the presidency's attacks on Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, regarding his comments on the nation's economic situation.

The APM, through its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, described the criticism of Onaiyekan as intolerant and indicative of the government's unwillingness to engage with the concerns of ordinary Nigerians. The party emphasized that religious leaders should be respected for their insights into national issues, as they reflect the realities faced by many citizens.

The APM criticized the government for resorting to personal attacks instead of addressing pressing national problems, asserting that faith-based leaders are essential voices that should be valued by any administration committed to the welfare of its people.
