Pre-fight Brawls Erupt at Chaos in the Ring Event

The Chaos in the Ring press conference, held in anticipation of a boxing event on October 1, 2023, at The Balmoral, Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, descended into chaos as tensions flared between Nigerian boxer Godday Appah and Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah. The face-off turned physical, with Gyimah attempting to breach security and Appah pushing a guard aside.

The event, coinciding with Nigeria’s Independence Day, aims to showcase local talent and provide access to international titles. The card also features celebrity matchups, including a confrontation between streamer Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, known as Carter Efe, and rapper Darlington Okoye, known as Speed Darlington, which escalated when Efe jumped across the stage.

Additional rivalries were evident in the heated exchanges between Basit “Jokerboy” Adebayo and Fatiu Jomoni. Dr. Ezekiel Adamu, founder of Chaos in the Ring, emphasized the event's goal of promoting African boxing on a global stage, with a fight card broadcasted internationally via SuperSport and DAZN.
