APWEN Inaugurates Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe as 19th President, Targets Innovation Drive for Women Engineers

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has appointed Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe as its 19th president during a formal investiture ceremony at the Nigerian Society of Engineers headquarters in Abuja. Igwegbe pledged to position women engineers as central drivers of innovation for economic growth and sustainable national development.

She emphasized the importance of research and development, fostering collaboration, and connecting women-led innovations with industry players and investors. Igwegbe also highlighted APWEN's commitment to sustainable solutions, including clean energy initiatives and waste management innovations.

The organization aims to expand STEM outreach programs and promote gender inclusivity in engineering. Keynote speaker Elozino Olaniyan stressed the imperative of gender inclusivity in engineering for economic progress.

APWEN's work aligns with Nigeria's development priorities, focusing on human capital development, industrialization, and digital transformation.
