Nigerian Aquatics Federation President Dunkwu Unveils Grassroots Initiatives for Long-Term Sport Growth

Chamberlain Dunkwu, the President of the Nigerian Aquatics Federation, has highlighted the importance of grassroots development in aquatics sports. During a press briefing at the National Stadium in Abuja, a series of grassroots initiatives were introduced, such as the Inter-School Swim Competition and the Nation Junior Swim Championship, set to take place by 2026.

Dunkwu emphasized the federation's commitment to long-term growth in the sport through these initiatives. Additionally, a personal sponsor has been announced for the Swim Future program, focusing on holistic athlete development, coaching empowerment, and technical capacity building.

The federation aims to strengthen its brand through strategic partnerships and commercial viability, as demonstrated by the introduction of the Thrive Resource Center's founder, Catherine Enaohwo, as the official market consultant. The focus remains on sustainable funding, strategic partnerships, and human capital development within the Nigerian aquatics sector.
