Nigeria Aquatics Federation Strengthens Ties with Navy

The Nigeria Aquatics Federation, under the leadership of President Nnamdi Chamberlain Dunkwu, conducted a courtesy visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abba, to strengthen their partnership with the Nigerian Navy. The delegation was received at the Naval Headquarters by Rear Admiral J.

N. Maman, Chief Administrator, along with senior naval officers.

Dunkwu expressed gratitude for the Navy's two-decade support, particularly highlighting the Chief Naval Staff Swim Championship initiated in 2000, which has evolved to include 20 teams from various states and military institutions. The partnership aims to discover and groom athletic talent while promoting water safety as a national asset.

Rear Admiral Maman reiterated the Navy's commitment to supporting aquatic development in Nigeria and encouraged the Federation to expand its focus beyond traditional swimming to include sailing, rowing, kayaking, and diving. The visit concluded with a symbolic exchange of souvenirs and a commitment to further collaboration in developing aquatic sports in Nigeria.
