Arabambi Warns Against Deregistration of Political Parties

Abayomi Arabambi, the Vice Chairman of the Labour Party Southwest, cautioned against the impending judgment regarding the deregistration of five political parties, including the African Democratic Congress, Action Alliance, Action Peoples Party, Accord Party, and Zenith Labour Party. He expressed concerns during a press briefing in Abuja ahead of the Federal High Court's scheduled judgment on June 5, 2026.

Arabambi criticized the lawsuit initiated by the Nation Forum and former legislators against the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Attorney General of the Federation, arguing that it threatens Nigeria's democratic process. He described the deregistration suit as an enemy of democracy that seeks to destabilize the nation and suppress opposition voices.

Arabambi also questioned the legal standing of the plaintiffs and emphasized the potential grave political consequences of deregistering these parties, which could undermine Nigeria's unity and democracy.
