Labour Party Claims Miscarriage of Justice in Court Ruling

The Labour Party has raised concerns regarding a recent court judgment that resulted in the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and four other political parties. Peter Lifu, a member of the Labour Party, described the ruling as a miscarriage of justice, claiming that the party is the worst affected by this decision.

Obiora Ifoh, issuing a statement from the party's national public secretariat, criticized the judiciary for allegedly disregarding established legal principles in the judgment concerning the internal leadership dispute of the ADC. The Labour Party's grievances also include a suit filed by Senator Nenadi Usman against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which was initially assigned to a judge but later reassigned, raising further concerns within the party.

The Labour Party expressed disappointment over the court's refusal to grant an adjournment for a motion filed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and remains hopeful for a review by the Supreme Court.
