Peter Obi Clarifies Financial Status and Political Focus

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election, addressed questions regarding his financial status during an interview. He stated that while he could be considered a billionaire in naira, he does not meet that status in US dollars.

Obi acknowledged that wealth can be measured in various ways. He also discussed his relationship with Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), asserting that he has no personal issues with him and considers him a friend.

Obi responded to an alleged comment from Wike regarding potential political victimization if Obi were to become president, clarifying that his ambition is not to pursue or punish political opponents. He emphasized that his priority, if elected, would be to improve Nigeria and not to settle political scores, aiming instead to create opportunities and restore confidence in the country's leadership.

Additionally, Obi denied claims made by Anambra's current government regarding financial issues when he left office in March 2014.
