Peter Obi to Engage Only with Presidential Candidates

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), declared that he will no longer respond to attacks or provocations from political surrogates as the 2027 presidential election approaches. This position was articulated in a statement from the Peter Obi Media Office, signed by spokesperson Idris Zekeri Jnr.

Obi emphasized that he would only engage with presidential candidates whose names will appear on the ballot, arguing that the election should focus on the candidates themselves rather than their representatives. The media office criticized political surrogates for using allegations and fabrications to maintain relevance for their principals.

Obi expressed his readiness to defend his record and discuss his policies directly with Nigerians, challenging other candidates to do the same. He reiterated this stance during the formal commencement of his campaign in August, urging all presidential candidates to engage directly with the electorate rather than relying on proxies.
