Nigerian Army Arrests 15 Suspected Oil Thieves in Lagos

On Friday, the Nigerian Army arrested 15 suspected oil thieves near the Dangote Refinery located in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State. The arrests occurred in the early hours of Friday following credible intelligence that led troops from the 9 Brigade in conjunction with the 65 Battalion to intercept the suspects attempting to illegally tap crude oil from a discharge point of a vessel supplying crude to the refinery.

The operation resulted in the recovery of several items associated with the illegal activities, including a Mack tanker truck, a Lexus RX 350 sport utility vehicle, a Ford Ranger pick-up truck, a 40hp Yamaha speedboat engine, and multiple hose pipes. The suspects are currently in the custody of the 65 Battalion, and further investigations are ongoing.

This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army to protect critical national infrastructure and curb crude oil theft across the country.
