Nigerian Army Investigates Leak of DSS Boko Haram Report

The Nigerian Army has commenced an investigation into the leakage of a classified intelligence report from the Department of State Services (DSS) that warned of planned attacks by suspected Boko Haram insurgents and armed bandits in Adamawa and Borno states. The investigation focuses on how the confidential document, intended for internal security use, was made public.

Military sources revealed that senior officers at the 232 Battalion in Yola, Adamawa State, are conducting an internal probe to identify the individual who leaked the document. The report, dated July 27, 2026, was addressed to the Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade in Yola and contained alerts about possible coordinated attacks following a ceasefire collapse among insurgents.

The planned attacks were expected to target communities in Michika Local Government Area and Askira Uba Local Government Area. The leak has caused anxiety among residents, prompting the DSS to alert the 232 Battalion to enhance security measures.
