Benue State investigates suspected Mpox case in Konshisha LGA

A suspected Mpox case discovered in Konshisha Local Government Area has prompted the Benue State Ministry of Health to launch an investigation. Authorities identified the infection at a residence located in Korinya community, leading to rapid responses from state health officials led by Commissioner Dr.

Paul Ogwuche. As soon as the suspected infection was reported, the ministry put its disease surveillance mechanisms into action following standard public health procedures.

Officials were sent out to the affected community where they conducted on-site assessments and collected necessary information. Dr.

Ogwuche emphasized that laboratory testing of samples is essential before any case diagnosis can be finalized. Residents have been urged by the commissioner to stay calm as laboratory test results are being processed.

The state's disease surveillance system continues functioning and remains vigilant for any other suspected cases. No specific timeline was provided in the commissioner's statement regarding when the laboratory findings would become available.
