Team Nigeria Secures 10 Medals at Glasgow 2026 Games

At the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Team Nigeria has climbed to the top five on the medals table, achieving a total of 10 medals, comprising six gold and four silver. This achievement was bolstered by weightlifters Edidiong Umoafia, who won the men’s 71kg event with a combined lift of 319kg, Onome Didih, who set a Commonwealth Games record with a total of 203kg in the women’s 53kg category, and Rafiatu Lawal, who successfully defended her title in the women’s 58kg event.

The National Sports Commission announced this progress in a statement on its X handle, noting that Nigeria is currently ahead of all other African nations at the Games. However, Nigeria was reported to have dropped to fifth place after Scotland surpassed it, with Scotland holding six gold, four silver, and three bronze medals.

The competition continues with more events in athletics, boxing, wrestling, and weightlifting.
