Army Confirms Death of Officer, Six Soldiers in Borno

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of a commanding officer and six soldiers during a terrorist attack in Monguno, Borno State. An official statement from the Army, made available to the media, indicated that the incident occurred while the troops were engaged in operations under the Joint Task Force North East, specifically Operation Hadin Kai.

The soldiers lost their lives due to an encounter with an improvised explosive device that severely affected their vehicle. Despite the casualties, the troops managed to repel the terrorists following a heavy exchange of gunfire, leading to the criminals fleeing the site.

The Army expressed sorrow over the loss of its personnel and vowed to continue serving the nation. The statement did not disclose the name of the commanding officer who was killed.
