Army Rescues Farmer from Kidnappers in Edo State

On August 6, 2026, troops from the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, alongside the Nigeria Police Force, successfully rescued 50-year-old farmer Mr. Lucky Egbiki, who had been abducted from his farm in Okehussan, Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State. The operation commenced around 6 PM, following credible intelligence regarding the abduction.

According to Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director Army Public Relations, the security forces engaged the kidnappers at a predetermined location in Onogholo, where one kidnapper was neutralized, prompting the others to flee and abandon Egbiki. The troops recovered the N1.5 million ransom intended for the kidnappers.

Egbiki was returned to his family after a medical assessment confirmed he was in stable condition. A follow-up operation on August 7 and 8 aimed to track the fleeing kidnappers but yielded no further contact.

Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun commended the troops for their professionalism and reassured the public of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping in the region.
