Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Recover ₦1.5 Million Ransom

On August 5, 2026, Lucky Egbeki was kidnapped from his farm in Urueun Quarters, Ubiaja, Edo State. Following credible intelligence, the Edo State Police Command, led by spokesperson Eno Ikoedem, initiated a rescue operation on August 6, 2026, in the Onogolo/Oria Forest.

The security team strategically positioned themselves along the route designated for the ransom collection. When the kidnappers emerged to collect the ₦1.5 million ransom, they opened fire upon realizing they were ambushed.

This led to a gun battle, resulting in the death of one suspected kidnapper, while two others fled with gunshot injuries. The operation successfully rescued Egbeki unharmed, and the ransom was recovered.

Ikoedem assured the public that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
