Nigerian Army Probes Alleged Military Protection of Drug Peddlers in Lagos

The Nigerian Army's 81 Division is conducting an investigation into claims of military officials providing protection to drug peddlers in Lagos, particularly in the Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area. The chairman of the LCDA, Jimoh Saliu, accused top military officers of shielding illicit drug peddlers in the Gidan Drama area near the Tego Army Barrack.

Saliu described the area as a hideout for notorious criminals engaged in various criminal activities, including drug trafficking. He highlighted the challenges faced by law enforcement in apprehending criminals due to the alleged protection provided by military and police officials.

Saliu also urged the state government to acquire the area for the construction of a secondary school to improve security in the region. Adedoyin Adesina, the CEO of Corona School Trust Council, commended the initiative to invest in education for the future generation.
