Nigerian Army Investigates Leak of DSS Attack Memo

The Nigerian Army has initiated an investigation into the leakage of a classified intelligence report from the Department of State Services (DSS) that warned of planned attacks by suspected Boko Haram insurgents and bandits in Adamawa and Borno states. Senior officers at the 232 Battalion in Yola, Adamawa State, are conducting an internal probe to identify the personnel responsible for circulating the confidential document, which was originally sent to alert the military about impending attacks.

The leaked report, dated July 27, 2026, was addressed to the Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade in Yola and indicated that insurgents were planning coordinated attacks in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State and Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. The report highlighted that the terrorists aimed to abduct government officials, councillors, district heads, and religious leaders.

In response to the threat, the DSS advised the Nigerian Army to collaborate with local hunters and forest guards to enhance security in vulnerable communities.
