Nigerian Army Retires 18 Senior Officers in Ceremony

The Nigerian Army conducted a pull-out parade in Benin City, Edo State, to retire 18 senior officers, including four major generals and 14 brigadiers, who served the nation diligently until their retirement. The ceremony, which marked the conclusion of a three-day conference themed "Optimizing Supply Transport Capability Towards Providing Effective Service Delivery in Operations," was addressed by Major General Danjuma Shagaya, who highlighted the long-standing military tradition of honoring years of service and sacrifice.

Chief of Army Staff Major General Olaniyi Dare represented the retired officers, emphasizing the critical role of the Corps of Supply Transport in sustaining the Nigerian Army's operations and ensuring troops are adequately supported across various operational theaters. Although the retired officers are leaving active service, they pledged to remain committed to the ideals of the Nigerian Army and to serve as ambassadors of the Corps, contributing their experience when called upon.

The ceremony also paid tribute to the families of the retired officers for their support and resilience.
