Nigerian Army Rescues Nine Kidnapped Victims in Kogi

The Nigerian Army successfully rescued nine individuals who had been kidnapped by suspected criminals along the Ajaokuta–Itobe Road in Ofu Local Government Area, Kogi State. This operation occurred after troops stationed at Patrol Base Itobe received reports of an attack on commuters.

Upon arrival, the troops discovered an abandoned Toyota Hiace bus and a Toyota Sienna vehicle, with the passengers missing. They promptly initiated a pursuit of the fleeing kidnappers towards the outskirts of Adumu Community in Dekina Local Government Area.

During the ensuing firefight, the Army troops overpowered the kidnappers, who fled into the bush, likely sustaining gunshot wounds. The rescued victims included two elderly men, two elderly women, four adult males, and an infant.

Following their rescue, the victims were evacuated to safety and handed over to the Nigeria Police at the Itobe Area Command for further necessary actions and to facilitate their reunification with their families.
