Nigerian Army Rescues Nine Kidnapped Commuters in Kogi

On Tuesday, troops from the Nigerian Army's 21 Battalion, deployed at Patrol Base Itobe, rescued nine kidnapped commuters along the Ajaokuta-Itobe Road in Kogi. The incident took place in Ofu Local Government Area, where suspected kidnappers attacked and abducted an unspecified number of passengers.

Upon mobilizing to the scene, troops discovered an abandoned Hiace bus and a Toyota Sienna vehicle. They tracked the kidnappers' withdrawal route and made contact with them near Adumu community in Dekina Local Government Area.

The troops engaged the kidnappers, compelling them to abandon the victims and flee. The rescued individuals included two elderly men, two elderly women, four men, and an infant.

Following the rescue, the victims were handed over to the Police Area Command in Itobe for further action, while efforts continued to locate and rescue any remaining victims.
