Nigerian Army Retires 18 Generals After 35 Years of Service

The Nigerian Army officially retired 18 senior officers, including four Major Generals and 14 Brigadier Generals, after 35 years of dedicated service. The retirement ceremony took place over three days in Benin City, under the theme "Optimism in Capability Toward Providing Effective Service Delivery in Nigerian Army Operations." Olaniyi Dare, speaking on behalf of the retirees, highlighted the significant roles these officers played in various operational and command staff roles within the Army.

He noted that the Corps of Supply and Transport is crucial for operational effectiveness, particularly in sustaining troops across different theaters of operation. Dare emphasized the Corps' commitment to delivering reliable and efficient logistical support during training exercises and peace support missions, both domestically and internationally.

Major General Danjuma Shagaya, who retired after decades of service, expressed pride in the progress and transformation of the Corps over the years. The ceremony allowed for a celebratory recognition of their service and commitment to the ideals and values of the Nigerian Army.
