Dangote Refinery Supplies 5.84bn Litres of Petrol in 2026

From January to May 2026, Dangote Refinery supplied approximately 5.84 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to the Nigerian market, representing 81.4% of the total supply during this period. The refinery's daily average supply was about 40.1 million litres, translating to 1.243 billion litres monthly.

During the same timeframe, imports accounted for 1.33 billion litres, bringing the total market supply to roughly 7.166 billion litres. Dangote's share of the market supply rose sharply to 92.4% in February, with imports dropping to just 7.6%.

The refinery's capacity utilization increased significantly to 78.24% amid ongoing legal battles concerning the issuance of import licenses for petrol. Dangote Refinery argues that continued imports undermine domestic investment and energy independence.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) data indicates that Dangote's supply share was 85.3% in March and 91.7% in April, with total market imports declining.
