Nigeria Enhances Role in Global Data Standards at WDO

At the World Data Organization (WDO) assembly in Beijing, Nigeria raised its profile in cross-border data standards, represented by Joseph Tegb, Director of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP). The assembly gathered 500 participants, including senior government officials and digital technology experts, to strengthen global coordination in data governance.

Tegb, accompanied by NCSP Head of International Relations Judi Melifonwu, underscored Nigeria's active role in shaping international frameworks for data access, utilization, and security. The assembly featured a keynote address by China's Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, who spoke on behalf of President Xi Jinping, emphasizing the need for coordinated global action to ensure secure and trustworthy digital economies.

Nigeria's participation is expected to yield significant benefits, including opportunities for engagement in global standard-setting discussions and tapping into the emerging global data ecosystem, which could unlock new investment and knowledge exchange opportunities within the digital economy.
